I love Journey, they're one of my biggest influences, so nobody accuse me of having hatred for real rock or anything else pathetic.
However, I have something that makes me really angry. Last year Journey sold out two dates at Newcastle, both of which I was at. This, on paper, seems fantastic. However, these dates both had Jeff Scott Soto and were, quite frankly, appalling. Before anybody asks, no, I'm not only a Perry fan, I enjoy the albums without him too. I thought Steve Augeri did a brilliant job and I think that Higher Place on Arrival was a true classic Journey tune.
However, these were shockingly average gigs.I expect more from a mighty band like Journey. What do Journey do to pay us back? Instead of repaying their loyal Newcastle fans for selling out two dazzlingly lacklustre shows, they don't play in Newcastle at all on their next tour. What a disgrace. I guess Newcastle fans are only worth the awful Soto shows. There's no excuse. You cant say we aren't commercially viable, as we sold out two nights instantly. I guess we just aren't important.
Thanks. I feel really rewarded for being a fan since Infinity. I can see how much our support has been appreciated since 1977. Clearly, not at all.
