DJBM, whose we? are you that many or have a multiple personality? as far as I know, you are by your lonesome, boy. please stop referin to we if you are only commenting by your lonesome. it shows your vulnerability and insecurity as a lone loony. why don't you register a lot of handles that make it appear that there are a lot of your so called "we". but that would be simply pathetic and will make you a further idiot that you are now. thanks for the laugh btw. lol.
"obsession makes people dumb"
The fake Journey album with the sound alike wannabe only reached number five at it's peak in the ever important "chart debut", and after that first week immediately tumbled off the top ten and is at number twelve. Next week that number will double. That is not a guess; it's a statistical fact that every album without major radio airplay to keep it in the public eye will drop fast after it's first two weeks. The problem is that their older 80's sounding music is of another era that is long gone and their new stuff is trying way too hard to sound like the old music, instead of trying to go in a new direction. They are trying to continue to rehash and repackage what Perry did. Everyone knows that Journey was nothing before Steve Perry and now they are nothing after Steve Perry. The truth is in the charts. The Album and Singles charts don't lie. The fans are not stupid and have been dealing with these sound alike wannabe replacements for a long time. The reason why they have failed in their comebacks post Perry is that the major majority of the real hardcore fans will not be snowed. We know a generic copy cat when we see it. Journey wasn't made up of a major three, four, or even five voice harmony like the Temptations, Platters, and other classic harmony groups where and can't simply replace a singer like those past groups did and have it be as easily over looked. On top of the obvious fact that a Filipino that's half of the bands age, sticks out even worse than a sore thumb, the absolute major core of Journey's sound from their most productive years was Perry's lead vocals, plain and simple. The fans have spoken and the rapidly tumbling position of this fake Journey is proof positive that you can try to pass off a wolf in sheep's clothing and get it to be accepted into the flock, but we are not as gullible and stupid as you may think we are. We can see a fake wannabee from miles away. You may be able to fool some (every wolf does) but most of us are not that easy to lead, and headed for the hills long ago. The fact that Journey has been eligible for the Rock and Roll hall of fame since 2000 and has been denied for eight years and counting speaks volumes. The Hall knows a fake when they see it as well.
Steve Perry is eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame in 2009 and word has it that he is a definite shoe-in to be inducted, in this first year he is able to enter it. I'm sure on that day, Steve Perry along with all of Journey's real fans will be laughing our asses off at that fake cover band that is still waiting.
The Chile and Vegas concerts and the fast-selling Journey concert tickets clearly show. . .JOURNEY IS RE-BORN, and their new singer is part of this rebirth!
This will be the end of Journey?
For me, Steve Perry leaving Journey
was the end of Journey.
At least that's what I always thought.
I hated the singer they got after Perry,
but Arnel Pineda is amazing.
He just might be the one to fill Perry's shoes.
I have my favorite Journey songs, loved them then & love them (more) now,
and with the new lead singer, Arnel Pineda ..Journey is reborn to capture the hearts of a new generation, I have the best time with my sons watching the videos from the
Chile Concert...Awesome! Can't believe those pipes.
We'll be waiting for their Bay Area Concerts in September, but if this excitement keeps on, I might be in Vegas for the July show.
"Congratulations & Best of Luck to your upcoming Europe & USA Tours,
" The WORLD is anxiously waiting to hear your new material.
Journey played REMAX's Int'l Convention in Vegas and I was expecting something okay but obviously Steve Perry's shoes wouldn't be filled adequately. To say they exceeded my expectations would be an understatement. When the new kid came out I was more skeptical but by the second song I was like holy s***. If you want a live show that sounds as close to what the original Journey albums sound like you'd be hard pressed to find anything better. We loved the show and were blown away. Best of luck to Journey.
well all I am new to the Journey web site. Met Neal Schon in Marin, Ca. He told me the band was touring again.......didnt even think to ask him if Steve Perry was on board. when i found out it was 'NO" I just couldnt bring myself to go to see them at the Cancer Ben. I love Neal, he is an incredible (traveling musician: what he explained to me he was before I told him I knew for sure who is was) But Journey w/o Steve Perry just doesnt work. I met up with some friends in LA, keyboard player from Heart......word on the street is he can sing like that anymore......so what...cant be that bad......look at Robert Plant...he cant hit all the high notes anymore.....
All I can say is if they did a reunion tour with SP !! I would go several times.....
I am in sales and spend alot of time in my car and today was Journey day all day .....f 'n GREAT.
Steve if you are out there.....and Neal and the rest of the guys patch up the wound do what you guys love to do !!!!! Play !!
Just my thoughts,,, had to get it out there been thinking about it all day.
I like Steve Perry but he decided to walk away from the band. The show must go on and the journey must continue. I watched the concert here in Vegas last night and he rocks! Great vocals and very talented. Soar high Arnel!
Let's give a chance to AP, I think he has a good voice. He rocks in Chile, awooooooooo!!!!
yerko7733, You are so right amigo. I guess there will always be people who would argue or disagree just for the sake of arguing or disagreeing. Majority of the old and new generations of Journey fans will agree with your opinions. Journey wrote their songs to be sung a certain way. They do'nt want to rearrange their written music to accomodate a new singer. They just simply wanted to find someone who can sing their brand of songs, to maintain integrity of the old materials and preserve that Journey sound for their future works. No one has identical tonal qualities to Steve Perry's voice, and if it's up to him ( SP ), the band would have ceased to exist the day he parted ways with them. There would be no live acts to enjoy, no Chile concerts to talk about. Neal S. searched and found another singer who has a voice suited more for harder rock music but can sing and deliver that Journey sound, so the band lives on. To those unable to appreciate these current edition of the band: just - enjoy and reminisce the old one. If you can't get over the emotional constipation of moving on, you're still welcome to opine. Just acknowledge that it is your own personal choice to be stuck with S.P.. Disparaging remaks about A.P and Neal's judgement to hire him serves no purpose to those who just want to enjoy their music. But if it helps those jaded fans to purge out their unhappiness..., then I suppose it makes for a colorful forum here. Just one piece of advice and reality orientation, like yerko7733 mentioned here, S.P. is not coming back. Even if circumstances allowed him to, would he have the same ability and vocal prowess he had 25 years ago??.

I really feel like some fans enjoys to maintain useful discussions, something like What is the best Star Wars or Star Trek?. what is the Best captain of the Enterprise?..Oooooooooooh Myyyy. Is it so hard to believe that Journey has a new singer leader?.
Untill I know, Steve Perry has repeated several times, that he won´t return to sing with Journey. So?...I don´t know what are expecting some guys, A miracle?...yeah!...I would like to believe in Santa too.
I think that it´s very logical to seek a voice similar to Perry, because is the sound that every fan, associates with the best hits of the band. That was the idea of the rest of the band ..or not?.
As a matter of fact, someone else that sings decently could be a lead vocals...in theory,(even Mariah Carey...Maaaaaaaaaan) , But, let´s think, It could really sounds like the band that we know?. I don´t think so, So... WELLCOME ARNEL, WELL DONE !!!.
Honestly I prefer to enjoy new albums, new concerts with a new vocal leader, unstead to live of memories.
Keep going guys, We´ll continue following you and enjoying your hits the old ones and the new ones.
I hope that the fans could have the chance to enjoy the March 8th concert, as we had the chance to be surprised in Viña del Mar Chile.
God bless you guys.
Kind regards
Yerko
journey is so lucky to have arnel pineda compared to led zeppelin now if they go on world tour the fans would only get not even a shadow of robert plants original singing.maybe they can also hire arnel pineda to do the job. he tackles a mean job on black dog
I watched the Chile Gig online and I would say, AP, the new lead singer has a style of his own. A pretty familiar voice like Steve Perry but more energetic probably because of his age. Remember too that SP was not the original singer when they first started as a band. SP just stayed with Journey for so many years. We may disagree with our opinions but we should be happy Journey is back. Let's rock and roll in Vegas March 8, 2008
Wow, Journey has another new lead singer. He sounds great and you cannot deny he's got talent. BUT Once again the members of this band deny what their heart and souls keep telling them. Hmmmmm another new lead singer and shocking, he sounds alot like Steve Perry. Interesting maybe carma is trying to tell these guys something. If you keep saying that Journey is fine without Perry and can go on without him then WHY DO YOU KEEP PUTTING SINGERS UP THERE THAT SOUND LIKE HIM!!??? Let me clarify it for you: STEVE PERRY was the voice of Journey when you all created all of those memories for all of us die hard fans and his charisma and voice are very unique and can never be duplicated. Why these guys don't just bury the hatchet and get Steve back on board just baffels me. It's so obvious that the members of this band know, no feel it in there souls that his voice is a HUGE part of their legacy and sound or they wouldn't keep listening and then hiring people that sound close to what he sounds like. Hell let's even cast aside all the love, memories, tears, laughter and good times this band has created back in their hay day for everyone that has ever heard one of their classic songs and put it in a business perspective. Let me ask all of you die hard Journey fans out there and be honest; Would you not cut off your right arm to go see Journey if they had Steve Perry up there in front? I gurantee you would and so would thousands of others. Wanna sell out huge venues again? Get Steve back and see what happens. I'll always love Journey and will continue to go see them when they come to town but none of you true fans out there can tell that when your there, enjoying that concert and you drift back to your younger years to the sound of Faithfully, Open Arms, Don't Stop Believin, Stone in Love, Feelin that Way, ect.
That you don't secretly wish it was Steve up there singing to ya!
I'll Be Alright Without You........................
.........yep you are, just alright.
He is undeniable that the legacy of Steve Perry in the history of Journey was so deep, that it marked to everything a landmark and a new one was for the band. All we always love Steve.
Nevertheless, I think that he is really pathetic to debate if Arnel is better or worse than Steve Perry. Of course that Arnel is not him, but, to reduce credit to the vocal quality and the dominion of the scene that Arnel has, is tremendously unjust. Why so negative with Arnel, because he is Philippine?.
I didn´t hear the same about Steve Augery, he lost his voice, it´s a pity, but I was there, In Viña del Mar Festival (CHILE), it was very awesome the Arnel performance like a lead singer. Everyone of us, enjoyed the whole show and we applauded his performance. Arnel demostrated that he has the same registry that Perry and without making an effort like made Augery.
If some fans thinks, that is the end of the band, maybe they lost his love for this band. It´s very clear that Neal and the rest of the band were extremely cautious with this "experiment", was a risk, absolutely. But the result surpassed all the expectations. Those that thinks, of a so pessimistic way, had to see how Arnel enchanted to us with his voice. They had to be there, to see how they were awarded.
For the band I only can say...Well done guys!, you have renewed the energies of the band, I hope with anxieties, a new CD with Arnel singing. Neal... you took the right decision and of course you were great, like always... playing in Live.
Don´t hesitate to continue this way guys. Like a phrase says..."the show must go on".
And we really hope to see you again.
Take Care and Best Regards
Yerko

men,i saw journey in viña del Mar at tv with a bad expectation honestly, because i didn´t think that Arnel could be like steve....but men...it was f***ing awsome!!!! Arnel was singing with a voice that remember me the best years of journey!! so the first thing that i do after was buying some tickets for the concert that were doing in santiago.
I think that this can´t be the end of journey, in fact this could be the begining of a new era of journey BUT only if arnel makes his own style in the voice if the band thinks to make a new album because I think arnel has a TREMENDOUS POTENTIAL!! Iam sure that the other guys that talk bad about Arnel, haven´t see him because he kiss ASS and they are jelous of him because he is living the dreamof any rocker! like the movie of "rockstar".
I want to say something else about the rest of the band....f*** MANN!!! YOU GUYS ARE STILL KICK ASS PLAYERS!!! iam so happpy that you come to south america! AT LAST!! i sing every single song!! and now i will play some of them on guitarr lol!!
well thats all i can say and pleaseee PLEASEE come back to sout america!! because it has been demostrated that Chilee will be expecting you with "open Arms" And an aowsome crowd!
see you round here!

Please stop all those debates and try to appreciate what Arnel is doin' right now. If weren't for Arnel, Journey will be back to square one. Remember what Neil Schon said during the audition of Arnel, "If this guy will not be picked, I will pack my bags from the group and form another band." Perhaps Neil has a Plan B for Arnel if in case Arnel will not be picked by the band. Just imagine if Neil contacted Mariah Carey and offered the job as the lead vocal, what would be Journey's image right now? A laughing stock I suppose. So, sit back, relax and don't bother comparing SP to AP coz' they are both different in many ways. Long-live the Journey!!!
Where are the Arnel Pineda's hater now?
OMG Arnel Pineda and Journey take by assault Viña del Mar festival in chile
few minutes ago here finished the concert, 15.000 people singing at chorus, what a vision ! (myself was signing too), cool memories from my youth ..
all i hope is this will mark a new road for a clasic rock band, my best wishes are for Journey.
journey opened my mind to music since i was in my high school years. yes, i like journey with the voice but things do change. i think when steve perry disbanded with the group, he reached what he has to reach being solo. Journey minus Steve Perry also don't mean that Journey isn't Journey anymore 'coz majority of the original band are still there and they still can do original music on their own. Steve P. is my favorite but i'm looking forward that Arnel rediscovers the new Journey. I hope Journey's legacy will still last (3 decades is not bad though!) I'm waiting for them to perform live here in New Jersey.... and their new album i can't wait how it sounds with a new lead singer!
hey men, journey knows what theyre doin.No one would invest to a frontman
if hes not capable. Why wont you just wait and see the results.Youre not in
a position to judge bro.For all we know you might not be able to sing a single note
youreself.OK?Just let the masses decide after all the first big test. The first big
exposure of the new frontman will be this month in Chile for a two days concert.Stay
call men.
Let's give Arnel a chance, he's a very good singer anyway. Let's respect the decision of the band to hire him. Neal Schon and company are very good musicians and I believe they won't make a move if it will hurt the bands reputation. I'm a fan of journey since the 80's and I will continue to do so especially now that Arnel is the new lead vocalist.
To Arnel, PUT YOUR HEAD UP HIGH. Don't listen to what the others are saying especially the negative comments. Just do your thing and give it your best shot. We will always support you.
To the new Journey, MABUHAY!!!
Steve P. had moved on. It's time for the band to move on as well and explore what's left in their creativity tank. Nobody can replaced S.P. Steve Augeri and Jeff Soto were very competent singers but they're no Steve P. Arnel Pineda is no Steve P. either, and he is not going to try to be according to him. He can be replaced too . We have the original bands recording to enjoy indefinitely. I have my favorites and I'm looking forward to any new materials. Let's move on too.

I am not totally opposed to Arnel, but he does not have Steve's abilities. He drags notes too long. I would advise him to listen to the old songs again, and work on that a little. I still miss Steve. But, if they must go on and Steve won't join them I hope Arnel learns to get the old songs down, don't stylize too much. Maria Carey has a great voice but she knows it and adds too many lilts and notes. It kind of kills the flow of the song. So, Neal and Jon please help him work on this! I liked all the members of Journey and I will not bad mouth any of them. I know that traveling as much as they did together it was inevitable that they would clash in personallities and get on one anothers nerves. It is so sad. I still beleive the magic will never be the same. They were all so good together. I still will support Steve in whatever he decides to do, or not do. I don't think until now there has ever been one to come even in the same universe as Steve. Arnel with a little work could be in the Milky Way. But Steve will always be the one staring on home plate.

They're morons. JEff would have saved them. He was awesome in concert and it felt like
Steve was back with them. He had the goods. Neal YouTubed the band with a 3rd world karoke singer. Brilliant egomaniac.

JOURNEY WELCOMES ARNEL PINEDA
WITH “OPEN ARMS” TO THEIR FAMILY
AS THE BAND’S NEW LEAD SINGER
December 5, 2007 -- After much speculation…the wait is finally over.
JOURNEY--Neal Schon (guitar), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Ross Valory (bass), Deen Castronovo (drums)--is proud to introduce fans all over the world to their new lead singer, Arnel Pineda (“pin-eh-da”). He replaces Jeff Scott Soto, who parted ways with the band earlier this year after stepping in for Steve Augeri, who had to leave the band in 2006 for medical reasons.
Arnel hails from Quezon City in the Philippines and has been singing Journey songs--in addition to original material--with his band, The Zoo, for the past couple of years in clubs all over his homeland. Joining the legendary band is a dream come true for him.
“It’s so exciting to sing with one of the best bands in the world. It’ll be a lot of hard work on my part and I’m actually looking forward to the scrutiny I’ll get from the hardcore JOURNEY fans. I know they’ll expect me to sound exactly like ‘the voice’ (Steve Perry), but that will never happen. I know there's only one Steve Perry in this world.”
When it was time for JOURNEY to look for a new lead singer, the internet came to their rescue. Guitarist Neal Schon wanted someone new to the music business, so he turned to YouTube. After finding Arnel singing “Faithfully,” he knew he had found the perfect frontman.
“I was frustrated about not having a singer,” explains guitarist Neal Schon, “so I went on YouTube for a couple of days and just sat on it for hours. I was starting to think I was never going to find anybody. But then I found The Zoo and I watched a bunch of different video clips that they had posted. After watching the videos over and over again, I had to walk away from the computer and let what I heard sink in because it sounded too good to be true. I thought, ‘he can’t be that good.’ But he is that good, he’s the real deal and so tremendously talented. Arnel doesn’t sound synthetic and he’s not emulating anyone. I tried to get a hold of him through YouTube and I finally heard from him that night, but it took some convincing to get him to believe that it really was me and not an imposter.”
Arnel Pineda picks up the story: “My friend Noel picked up the message on YouTube and told me it was from Neal. I thought it was a hoax so I ignored it. Noel said, ‘what if it really was Neal and he wanted to offer you the chance of a lifetime?’ So I e-mailed Neal back and the rest is history.”
“Arnel brings a soulful and passionate voice to JOURNEY,” continues keyboardist Jonathan Cain. “His personality is very well-suited to our music. He’s a sincere, authentic person with a great smile and a big heart. I think fans are really going to love him. With Arnel’s soaring tenor, Journey returns to our heritage sound.”
Schon agrees, “We feel reborn. I think there’s a lot of chemistry between the five of us. At first we were going to go into the studio and just write 4 songs, but now it’s escalated to a lot of great new and diverse material. The stuff sounds tremendous. Everyone’s so stoked about it. We feel very fortunate to have found Arnel.”
JOURNEY is currently working on a new album with legendary producer Kevin Shirley, which they hope to release by spring/summer 2008. Details will be announced early next year.
